Different Carrot Recipes for Babies Above 6 Months Old
Whenever you introduce a new fruit or vegetable to your baby, always start giving a very small amount to check whether your child is allergic to the food or not. If you find everything okay, then start giving that particular fruit or vegetable to your baby. Here are some carrot recipes for babies above 6 months. Carrot Puree:
For the kids who have just started solids and those who have just entered their sixth month, they should be given carrots in a pureed form so that they can be easily digested.
Procedure:
- Peel one carrot and chop it into small pieces.
- You can boil the carrots in a pan for 10 to 15 minutes. Try to take less water so that when your carrots are boiled, less water is left, and you need not throw that magical water away. Or instead, you can use the steamer to soften the carrots.
- Now use the blender to blend the boiled carrots and make a puree.
- Do not add sugar or salt for babies 6 to 12 months old. You can add breast milk or formula milk to enhance the taste. Adjust the consistency of the puree.

Carrot Halwa:

- Put the ghee in a pan and add the grated carrots to it. Let the carrots soften in ghee. When you see the carrots are about to melt, you can mash them with a masher.
- If your child is older than 1 year, you can add sweetener (jaggery powder) to it; otherwise, feed it as it is to your baby.
Carrot Oats:
Oats are rich in fiber, proteins, fats, and carbs. This recipe can be quickly made within 10 minutes and gives your baby all types of nutrients. It makes your child’s tummy full for longer.
Procedure:
- Take a pan and pour two glasses of water into it. Let the water boil.
- Add one grated carrot to it and let it boil for 5 to 7 minutes. Check with the spoon if the carrots soften, then add one tablespoon of plain oats to it.
- Add one spoonful of jaggery powder and half a teaspoon of dry fruit powder to enhance the nutrients.
- After 3 to 4 minutes, your carrot oats are ready to eat.
Daliya:
Daliya is a complete food, and if we add vegetables to it, it becomes more nutritious.
Procedure:
- Put one spoon of ghee in a pan and one tablespoon of daliya into it.
- Roast it for 2 minutes. When a beautiful aroma starts coming out, add four times of water to the ratio of daliya. 1 tablespoon of daliya needs to be prepared in four tablespoons of water.
- Add grated carrots to it. Let it boil for 10 minutes.
- Check with the spoon if your daliya and carrots are boiled properly, then add dry fruit powder to it.
- For the kids who have not started chewing, you can blend the prepared daliya and feed it to your baby. Otherwise, you can feed it directly.
Carrot Soup:
During the winter, there is one effective way to feed the carrots in the form of soup to your baby.
Procedure:
- Peel and chop the carrots.
- Take a pan and add two glasses of water.
- Put the chopped carrots into it and let it boil for 10 minutes.
- When the carrots have boiled properly, switch off the flame.
- For kids over 1 year old, add salt and pepper to it as per your taste and quantity of soup.
- Use the blender to blend the carrots, and add water to adjust the consistency. Soups are a little more watery than purees.
- Re-heat the blended mixture for 1 minute and enjoy with some drops of lemon juice.
Carrot Parantha:
Procedure:
- Put one bowl of wheat flour on a plate and add the grated carrot to it. Do not squeeze the carrot with water.
- Add a quarter teaspoon of salt and a pinch of black pepper to it.
- Add water if required to kneed the flour.
- Now roll a parantha using the ghee and folding method and prepare it on a hot tawa.
- Enjoy it with curd.
Carrot Sooji Halwa:
Sooji is rich in protein and fiber. It is very good to digest easily and keep a baby’s tummy full for hours. Let’s get into the recipe.
Procedure:
- Put one tablespoon of ghee in a pan and add one tablespoon of sooji to it. Roast it for 2 minutes.
- On the other side, heat 5 tablespoons of water.
- When the beautiful aroma comes from sooji, add water to it.
- Add grated carrots to it. Let it boil for 5 to 7 minutes so that the carrot gets soft.
- Add jaggery powder and milk to adjust the consistency.
- Add 1/2 teaspoon of dry fruit powder and enjoy.
Carrot Tikki:
If your child has started chewing the food, make this yummy tikki. It will bring a change to the regular food items.
Procedure:
- Take two carrots and two potatoes.
- Peel both of them and get them to boil.
- Mash the carrots and potatoes with a masher. Mix them both properly.
- For kids over 1 year old, add salt as per taste and a pinch of black pepper.
- Heat a pan and add one spoon of desi ghee to it.
- Give the shape of tikki to it, fry it in the pan, and enjoy.
Besan Carrot Cheela or Pancake:
Besan is a rich source of fiber, carbs, proteins, etc. To prepare besan cheela, follow the below written procedure:
Procedure:
- Add one tablespoon of besan or chickpea flour in a bowl. Add half a grated carrot along with a small amount of salt and pepper (as per taste and quantity).
- Mix it properly. If water is required, add it.
- Make a semi-solid mixture like idli.
- Heat the tawa and grease it with ghee.
- Pour the mixture with a laddle or spoon and spread it on the tawa.
- Get it prepare from both sides and enjoy with makhan, chatni etc.
Carrot Idli:
The carrot recipes for babies above 6 months involve carrot idli. This recipe is liked by not only kids but also youngsters. I always make idli with sooji because this is instant and tasty as well.
Procedure:
- In a bowl, add one table spoon of sooji and one table spoon of curd. Mix them both and keep them aside for 10–15 minutes.
- Grate carrots on the other side.
- After 15 minutes, add grated carrot, salt, and black pepper as per taste. Add a half-spoon of eno powder to it.
- Pour the mixture into an idli maker and let it steam for 15 minutes.
- Use a toothpick to check whether idli is ready from inside. If you get a clean toothpick, then it is ready to use.
- Enjoy it with mint chutney.
